Tipene is a Senior Solicitor in our Kahurangi team, specialising in Māori Land and Resource Management/Natural Resources.  He collaborates closely with clients, providing comprehensive and practical advice and in particular assists iwi clients given their involvement in matters relating to natural resources.

In previous roles, Tipene has been involved with both local government and the private sector.  He has worked across a broad range of resource management matters with preparing and processing resource consents.  In the natural resources space, he has experience with developments in the coastal environment including aquaculture, projects affecting infrastructure, and matters on land development.

Outside of work, Tipene loves to cook and is working his way through Jamie Oliver’s latest cookbook.  He has also taken up hiking, recently completing the Milford Sound track with plans to take on the Abel Tasman Coast track and tick off another one of New Zealand’s great walks.

Tipene joined the McCaw Lewis whānau in 2024.
